Twitter was restored worldwide

Social media platform X, formerly Twitter, was restored worldwide early Thursday after users reported experiencing problems at the height of the outage.

Users were experiencing loading issues with X Pro (formerly TweetDeck) and a "waiting to send" message.

According to Downdetector data, more than 77,000 users in the United States experienced access problems with X and X Pro. With no way to post on X, social media users posted updates about the outage on competitors like Facebook, Threads, Reddit, and Meta's rival app, Threads.

Downdetector tracks outages by collecting status reports from multiple sources, including users.

As of 10:30 AM, nearly 1,000 power outages were reported in Pakistan. Access to X was restored for Pakistani users after 12pm.

There was no immediate comment from X and no indication of what caused the outage.

X is currently facing several problems, including an EU investigation under anti-disinformation and hate law, criticism of the platform's response to the recent riots in Dublin, and the loss of a prominent advertiser.

Elon Musk's company now owes less than half the $44 billion it paid him in October 2022, according to an internal document sent to employees and a report in tech magazine The Verge.

People previously familiar with the matter told Reuters that the $44 billion acquisition led to several layoffs, including several engineers responsible for repairing and preventing blackouts.

A major X outage was also reported by Downdetector in February, affecting thousands of users. User complaints shared online include not being able to send messages, being told to exceed the daily post limit, and not being able to send direct messages.
